F39: Porsche racecar carbon fiber desk bedside clock velocity stack trumpet engine guys racing engineering office motorsport gift

This unique and very original office desk clock is made from an air intake trumpet.

Also known as  a velocity stack, these intakes were originally intended for use on a prototype Porsche racecar engine. Sadly these parts never got the chance to be used in anger on the race track, but it seems a shame to waste such exquisite pieces of engineering, so I have repurposed them into these unique desk clocks.

In keeping with the motorsport theme, I have added real carbon fibre to the large end of the trumpets, this has a classic 2x2 twill weave pattern with a flawless gloss shine to it. The clock mechanism used has a glass face with a chrome bezel and this face is modeled on the design of a sportscar rev counter, it comes with a pre-fitted battery which is easy to change. To stop it from rolling around on your desk the underside has been sanded flat.

I've shown it next to a standard 1/2" spanner for scale too (sorry but thats not included with this ite, but we can supply you with one, if you really need one!). The diameter of the carbon part is approx 4" / 10cm.
