The 906 Carrera 6, presented in 1966, marked an important milestone in the history of Porsche competition cars. Equipped with a 1991cc 901/20 type 6-cylinder engine producing 220 horsepower at 8000 rpm, the 906 was the ideal car even for the private teams which made intensive use of it until the early 1970s. also a long tail body for circuits like Le Mans. among the 906's most significant successes was the 1966 Targa Florio with Mairesse and Mueller.
